If you play golf, then no doubt you already know the importance of quality golf clothes. Historically, a major requirement of golf apparel seemed to be that it be staid and boring! However these days, golf apparel is moving more and more in a stylish direction that welcomes personal expression. But whatever your taste in fashion, your main goal in buying golfing clothing should be to make sure you are as comfortable as possible when you play.
Men’s golf clothing usually consist of a golf shirt and trousers. The days of plaid and checkered patterns have faded into the past, and modern men’s golf shirts are fashionable enough to be worn off the course, whether as casual wear or even at the office. Modern golf shirts are also products of intensive research, and are now made with highly durable materials that offer excellent performance in all conditions.
Another essential item you will need is a good pair of golf shoes. The most obvious characteristic you may have noticed about golf shoes are probably the spikes on the bottom of the soles. Designed to give the golfer needed traction when playing, these days the traditional metal spikes are giving way to new “soft spikes,” wh

The average shirt worn by a man is typically designed to serve a purpose: as a covering. It gives protection, and acts as a temperature regulation mechanism. However, even in these designs primarily aimed at pragmatic use, there can be found a lot of trends in fashion. Think back to the paintings of the classical painters wearing their collarless shirts with roomy, billowing sleeves. Compare that to the button-down shirts worn as formal attire in the twentieth century. As the marketplace becomes more and more global, it seems that men’s shirts and fashions are changing faster than ever.
One of the most interesting developments in men’s shirts and fashion of the 20th century was the development of the polo shirt. Some people have come to also call this a tennis shirt. It was actually invented by Rene Lacoste in 1929. Who was Rene Lacoste? He was a famous French tennis player.
The polo shirt provided a loose alternative for the tennis player to the rigid dress shirts they had traditionally worn. The commercialization of the polo shirt really didn’t peak until Ralph Lauren developed its Polo collection in the 1960s. This Polo collection stayed in fashion for many years. In fact, it was popular so long that it came to be considered a common clothing category. It isn’t worn by tennis players much anymore, but the polo shirt is still seen among common people of many cultures.
Another one of the interesting examples of men’s shirts and fashion for study is the granddad shirt. This shirt has maintained a long era of popularity. The granddad shirt is a collarless shirt that is ideal for staying cool on warm days. It is not surprising then that its popularity has remained the greatest in the hotter areas of the world, such as South Asia.
In India, the granddad shirt became very popular under the rule of Jawaharlal Nehru in the 1950s. This Indian Prime Minister could often be seen wearing one of these shirts, even at formal occasions. In America, the granddad shirt could be found on Sammy Davis Jr. Later these shirts could be found on the trend-setting actor named Steven Segal. Still today, many stars can be seen wearing a bohemian version of the granddad shirt, with bright colors.
The button-down formal shirt has remained popular through all of these developments in men’s shirts and fashion. Its history is long enough that it is hard to precisely pinpoint how this example of men’s shirts and fashion came into being.
One of the proposed theories on the origin of the button-down shirt is traced back to an English polo match. Players had clipped down their collars to keep them from blowing around in their faces.
Another theory of the origin of the button-down shirt maintains that it was invented in New York City. Again, this theory maintains that a man was annoyed by the wind flapping his collars in the wind so he added buttons to hold them down.
While button-down shirts are mostly worn to convey some level of formality these days, at various times they have also been considered to be fashionable men’s shirts for more relaxed settings. In the more casual settings, these shirts can contain all sorts of designs on them. Hawaiian-style button-down shirts have been popular for casual settings for many years now, particularly during warm weather.

Most often made of 100% cotton, jeans are a functional part of almost every man’s wardrobe. Available in different sizes and fits, jeans can be worn for outdoor work or casual settings.
Especially rugged, jeans can look great and still be functional when torn. Styles of jeans with patches and tears come and go, but the classic look of a well made pair of jeans never goes out of style.
Blue Jean Sizes and Styles
Jeans are available from many major manufacturers such as Levi Strauss, Lee and Eddie Bauer, as well as designer styles from Polo and others. Most designers offer men’s jeans in waist 30 to 46 inches, with larger sizes available in big and tall shops. Inseams are found in the most common lengths of 30” to 36”.
Many designers, including LL Bean and Eddie Bauer, offer different styles to fit the male shape of today.
•	The Classic Fit is trim, with straight legs. Designed for the slim or athletic man.
•	The Relaxed Fit has more room and seat, and flared legs for comfort and flexibility.
•	The Full Cut has much more room in the seat and legs, and can look baggy, but offers exceptional comfort for the larger man.
Jean Colors
The standard color for jeans is blue denim, and almost all manufacturers produce this color. There are different shades of blue available. Dark blue denim will fade to a lighter blue after repeated washings.
Since faded jeans may have inconsistent color within the garment, many jeans are sold already in the faded color, often described as stonewashed. These maintain a more uniform color, but may not be as dressy as dark blue.
Jeans have been available in many other colors, but current styles limit most choices to blue, black or khaki.
Wearing Jeans
Jeans are generally worn low on the hips. Some young people have taken to wearing jeans very low, even below the hips, but this style has not been well accepted by adults. Indeed, extremely low riding jeans offer a very unpleasant view from the back.
Since the jeans are worn low, the temptation is to allow them to drag on the floor, but this should be avoided, as it wears the jean cuffs into ribbons in short order. Torn cuffs have never had the appeal of rips in the knee area.
Other Features of Jeans
Jeans are available in shorts, or flannel lined jeans for warm and comfort in cold climates. Whether looking for a bold casual fashion statement or something for a moving the lawn, jeans offer men great looks and comfort.

Neckties have been around since thousands of years ago. It was during the reign of China’s first emperor when historians unearthed replicas of the ruler’s terracotta warriors and found that they wore large bandanna-like cloths around their necks. Thus, the world’s earliest neckties were conceived.
Nowadays, neckties are favored by males from a variety of occupations. From skinny ties, broad ties, knotted ties and ties that are made from a wide array of materials, most executives now cannot imagine a world where these pivotal fashion accessories for men do not exist. Many women cannot comprehend why neckties are so important to men but the fact remains that men treasure their necktie collections as it is a symbol of who they are and even professions are. It is part of their identity, and psychologists have even concluded as a result from numerous researches that neckties may even represent the male ego.
Whether you are buying your first tie or are shopping for one as a Father’s Day gift, it is vital to know how to choose the right necktie. Consider the event that you are about to attend. Is it a job interview, a first date, or a formal get together? The more formal the occasion, the more subdued your neckties should be. On the other hand, if you come from a creative background, you will be forgiven for wearing loud ties in to project an adventurous image. Otherwise, try to keep the colors and patterns down to a minimum in tune with the proper settings.
Neckties come in a broad selection of colors. Ties of virtually every color of the rainbow can be found so it is understandable that you would find yourself spoilt for choice. However, color coordinating your neckties and shirts should be done before you make the final decision to purchase ties. Naturally ties that consist of loud patterns should never go with equally dynamic shirt colors. It’s safe to assume that white shirts can bring out the colors and patterns of your ties so do consider wearing one if you want to accentuate your brand new silk tie. Finally, if you are mulling over which ties will go best with your new suit, do avoid striped ties as they will somehow dilute the dynamism projected by your quality suit.

Remove Dirt and Stains From Hats Without Damage
Some folks have owned their caps for years, and the attachment is more than utilitarian – it’s emotional. There’s a real chance a grungy, well-worn baseball cap may be damaged by improper cleaning. Maybe the cap will lose its shape. The brim might be damaged or deformed. Or the cap could shrink. Better to wear a dirty hat than roll the dice.
Cleaning a favorite cap may be a little nerve-wracking, but the following tips can provide a little peace of mind.
Preventive Medicine for Baseball Hats
It’s best to keep dirt and stains off a new cap if possible, but hard-worn caps will pick up dirt, especially if used in sports.
Spraying with Scotch Guard before wearing, or with a product called Hat Saver, will help to protect the cap from dust and dirt, at least for the short-term, and give it a longer life.
Before Washing the Baseball Cap
First, check the cap’s tag. It should list the material the cap is made from, and may also provide the manufacturer’s suggested cleaning instructions.
Baseball Hat Materials
•	Most baseball caps are made from cotton or polyester; both of these materials withstand washing well.
•	Cotton Twill is a good, durable fabric, as are the Cotton/Polyester Blends. This material is tough and bright, more than likely color fast.
•	Jersey Mesh is a stretch fabric, also durable.
•	The other main material is wool. Wool is warm, even when wet, but can shrink in hot water or air.
Testing Ballcaps for Color Fastness
Once the baseball cap’s material is determined, it’s time to check for color fastness. Add a splash of mild detergent (Zero or Woolite) to a wet cloth. Choose a spot on the cap’s inner rim, one not readily visible. Rub gently with the cloth. Rinse the spot with a clean cloth and cool water. If the color’s don’t run or fade, proceed with confidence.
Alcohol and hairspray have been used in the past as home-remedy stain removers, but according to the National Cleaners Association, hairspray or alcohol should never be used on caps having heavy grease or ink stains. Alcohol and hairspray can cause color damage and may contain resins or lanolin that could actually create more stains.
Baseball Cap Pre-wash
Use a soft, plastic-bristle brush to remove loose dirt and dust. Brush gently so as not to force dirt particles into the fabric. Then pre-treat the liner and headband with an enzyme-based laundry spray such as Spray ‘n Wash.
Cleaning Baseball Caps in the Washing Machine
Baseball caps manufactured in the last ten years more than likely have shaped plastic bills instead of cardboard, and should hold up to machine washing – with the proper care. Just toss the cap in with similar color clothes, set the washer to gentle or delicate cycle, and use cold or warm water. Don’t use bleach.
Plastic Baseball Cap Cage
One good way to ensure the baseball cap keeps its shape is to use a plastic cage (obtained from WalMart for around $5.00). These cages are made specifically to hold the cap secure and protect it from the washer’s agitating force. These are not foolproof, however – they’ve been known to break.
Baseball Hats in the Dishwasher
Using a dishwasher is not recommended, as the water gets too hot and there’s no fine-tuning of the temperature. But caps can be washed in the dishwasher, and there is one advantage. If washed in the top rack, the cap will not move, and is more likely to keep its shape.
Plastic cages can also be used in dishwashers, but there’s a chance they may melt.
Whether using a washing machine or a dishwasher, make sure you air-dry the cap. The hot air of a clothes dryer (or a dishwasher in drying mode) may cause shrinkage.
Washing Older Ballcaps
Caps over ten years old or made from wool require a gentler touch. The bill may be made from cardboard, the fabric thinner from exposure to sun and weather. Washing machines and dishwashers are too rough for older caps.
Fill a sink or container with lukewarm or cool water. Test for color fastness and use stain removal spray as above. Then add a little Woolite to the water and let the cap soak. Scrub gently with a soft-bristle brush. Rinse with cool, clean water.
Repeat process as needed. Use enzymatic laundry detergent along with an “unbleach” (active oxygen bleach or Oxy-Clean powder) if there is grease or heavy, imbedded stains present.
Make sure to air-dry the cap. Fit the ballcap around a plastic bowl or use a store-bought cap mold to help the cap keep its shape while drying. Or hang it outside on a clothesline in the sun and fresh air.
Be extra-gentle with wool caps. Too much rubbing can cause pilling.
No do-it-yourself process is foolproof, however, and there’s always the chance that cleaning the cap may cause damage. If there’s still a concern about hurting a favorite cap, and the loss of the cap would be unacceptable, the Drycleaning and Laundry Institute International recommends sending it to a professional dry cleaner, whose expertise and special cleaning technology can give your favorite baseball cap a whole new lease on life.
